easier?

maybe.

over the past several weeks i've been working on a 5000 piece puzzle - my new job.

things have been ebbing and flowing at different times. i climb 10, sometimes 20 rungs higher, then just as i grab on to the next rung, i slip down and smack my chin on the rungs as i do before i grip on again.

it's becoming a little less painful, and i'm slipping on fewer rungs. my biggest hurdle has been the legal aspects of getting my job done. in case i didn't tell anyone, i'm supposed to be a one-man show. now, granted, i'm simply the conductor of a larger orchestra that's taking place. purchases of equipment in the $20,000 to hundreds of thousands of dollars in price range (and up depending on network scale). getting documents between the legal department, carriers, leasing administration, contractors and vendors shuffled back and forth and coordinated... and trying to convince one of the vendors that gee, we've got a palette of $70,000 worth of gear that was never installed, but is brand new, and got pre-empted on an installation simply because it wasn't the 'latest and greatest', shouldn't we get a refund, or credit, or something??!?

but the fun parts are great. getting to play with and spec out new test gear, play with some of the coolest and latest personal electronic toys, sit next to fun people to work with even if they aren't really working 'with' me (that whole 'one man show' thing).

something else cool... i have some control over how long i get to go places and where i bother going.

if you're reading this, and you're not in CA, i'm probably coming to visit your state and sometime soon... let me know and i'll put you in my plans.
